Why not Georgetown?
As I prepare myself for the upcoming mayoral race, I am working on how to deliver on my promise to bring jobs to Georgetown. I am running as a member of the Forward Party and, there just so happens to be a Forward Party mayor in the State of South Carolina. I thought giving him a call would be a good place to start, so I reach out to him and we set a time to have a video conference call. What I found out was amazing, to say the least.
The man I spoke with is Harry Williams, he has been the mayor of Hardeeville since 2016. In that time, he has brought hundreds and hundreds of jobs to the city. These are good paying jobs with benefits that you can raise a family on and still have money left over after paying your bills. The latest company moving into Hardeeville is TS Conductor, they specialize in advanced conductor technology that enables utilities to double or triple transmission capacity while cutting costs for customers. There will be an endless demand for their products, they will continue to grow and hire. Initially they will start with 462 jobs. See link below.
I asked Harry how he got a company like this and all the other businesses to come to Hardeeville? He told me there is a state agency whose main responsibility is to recruit businesses to locate in his area. The name of the agency for his region is the South Carolina Regional Development Alliance or SCA and they represent 7 counties. The agency that covers Georgetown is called the North Eastern Strategic Alliance or NESA. No one from the City of Georgetown is on the Board of Directors. This needs to be rectified. Harry Williams is on the board of SCA, we need representation sitting on the NESA board.
Another item of interest I found is our city has been without an Economic Director for the last seven years. The Economic Director would be the person in charge of recruiting companies to locate in the City of Georgetown, not only do we need this job filled, we need to recruit a top talent to fill this position. A good person will pay for themselves many times over.
The election is November 4th, 2025. Mark it on your calendar. If you care about this city and would like to see good paying jobs return, you have to vote, everyone in this city has to vote!
